Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are your tours private?

Yes — all our tours are 100% private and customized for your group. The itinerary is flexible and can be adjusted to your interests, your pace, and the places you'd like to visit.

  • How do I book?

You can book online at kaikuatours.com/book-online, or contact us by phone at (808) 863-1006 or by email at kaikuatours@gmail.com.

  • How far in advance should we book?

We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your date, especially for weekends. But feel free to contact us even at the last minute — we'll do our best to fit you in.

  • How long are the tours?

Short or long — there's no minimum or maximum number of hours. We work with the time you have available, even from sunrise to sunset if you'd like.

  • Why book a private tour instead of a big bus tour?

With a private tour, the day is yours: your pace, your stops, no waiting for other groups — and a local guide all to yourselves.

  • What's the difference between a tour and transportation?

Transportation is a direct ride between two points. A tour is a private guided experience, with stops and sightseeing along the way — and your guide shares explanations and curiosities about everything you see on the route.

  • How do we meet our guide?

Before your tour, we'll contact you by phone call, text message, or email to confirm the exact meeting point — so finding us is easy.

  • Our group has more than 14 people. Can you still help?

Yes — contact us and we'll find the best arrangement for your group.

  • Can I book a tour as a gift, or through a travel agent?

Yes! You can book a tour as a gift for someone else, and we also work with travel agents. Just contact us and we'll set everything up.

  • What's included — and what's not?

Your private driver-guide, a customized itinerary, and pickup and drop-off at the location of your choice. Entrance fees to attractions, activities, and meals are not included.

  • Can we stop for lunch or local food?

Of course! Meals are not included, but we're happy to stop at local favorites along the way — shrimp trucks, shave ice, malasadas, and more.

  • What should we bring?

Comfortable shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and — if you'd like to swim or snorkel — swimwear and a towel.

  • What happens if it rains?

Our tours run in most weather — Hawaii showers usually pass quickly. If the weather ever forces a change of plans, we'll contact you to adjust.

  • Are there restroom stops during the tour?

Yes — your guide will plan comfortable stops along the way.

  • Can you pick us up at the cruise port or airport with our luggage?

Absolutely. We pick up at the cruise port, the airport, and hotels, and your luggage stays safely in the vehicle or in our storage during the tour. For airport pickups, we can also greet you with a fresh flower lei for $20 per person.

  • What time do tours start?

You choose the start time. For cruise ship guests, pickup is usually around 9:00 AM, after disembarkation. For tours ending at the airport, we drop you off 3 hours before your flight.

  • Will we be back in time for our flight or ship?

Yes. We plan the whole day around your schedule, so you'll be back with time to spare.

  • What if our flight or ship is delayed?

No problem — just let us know and we'll adjust your pickup time.

  • Can we start and end the tour in different places?

Yes — pickup and drop-off can be in different places: cruise port, airport, or hotel. Whatever works best for you.

  • Do you pick up outside of Waikiki?

Yes — we pick up and drop off anywhere on the island of O'ahu: Waikiki, Ko Olina, the North Shore, vacation rentals — wherever you're staying.

  • Do you visit Pearl Harbor?

We provide transportation to Pearl Harbor. Tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial must be reserved by visitors at recreation.gov; they're free and go fast, so we recommend booking early. The other Pearl Harbor attractions (USS Bowfin, USS Missouri, and the Aviation Museum) sell tickets on site and online.

  • Can you take us to an attraction we already have tickets for?

Yes! If you already have your tickets — for Waimea Valley, Kualoa Ranch, Pearl Harbor, a luau, or anywhere else on O'ahu — we can provide just the transportation, there and back. Contact us for a quote based on your destination.

  • How much does a tour cost?

Tours are $60 per hour for groups of up to 6 people (or 4 people with luggage), and $100 per hour for groups of up to 14 people. We also offer transportation only for $50 — between airport, Waikiki and cruise port.  Entrance fees to paid attractions are not included in the tour price.

  • When do we pay?

You can pay when you book online, or anytime before the tour.

  • Can we extend the tour on the day?

Usually yes, if the schedule allows — just ask your guide during the tour and we'll adjust the plan.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 24 hours or more before the tour receive a full refund. Within 24 hours, the refund is 50%. Date and time changes are free, subject to availability.

  • What happens if we don't show up?

No-shows follow our cancellation policy: if you've already paid, we refund 50%. If your booking is still open, 50% will be charged to the card on file — a card is required for every reservation.

  • How long do refunds take?

Refunds are issued to your original payment method and typically arrive within 2 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.

  • Are children welcome?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome. Our tours are private and adapted to your family — and we have car seats available on advance request.

  • Do you provide car seats for children?

Yes — we have car seats for baby and small children, and booster seat, available upon advance request. Just let us know when you book.

  • Can you accommodate guests with mobility needs?

Yes. Our private tours can be adapted with a relaxed pace and easy stops. Please contact us before booking so we can plan the best itinerary for your group.

  • Can we bring a walker or a foldable wheelchair?

Yes — we can accommodate foldable walkers and wheelchairs. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange the right vehicle for your group.

  • What if we have a lot of luggage?

Just let us know when you book. We can arrange a larger van (at a different price), or we can store your luggage at our secure storage — just 7 minutes from the airport — during the tour, and deliver it to you at the airport before your flight.

  • Will you take photos of us during the tour?

We're not professional photographers, but we're happy to take photos of your group along the way. If you'd like a professional photographer to join the tour, we partner with local photographers who can come along — their service is paid separately, directly to the photographer. Just ask us when you book.

  • Do you offer tours on other islands?

Yes! We're based on O'ahu, so tours on other islands have a different price, as I'd fly over and arrange a vehicle there. I'd be happy to do it — or I can recommend an excellent local guide on that island.

  • Do you offer tours in other languages?

Tours are offered in English and Portuguese. We also welcome French-speaking guests: a native translator from Paris can join your tour or an extra fee.
